Has the Epson PX-M741F printer stopped recognizing cartridges after an update?

Sometimes, after a firmware update, the printer stops printing and displays an error message:
Ink cartridges cannot be recognized. Remove and reinstall the cartridges correctly or replace them. Epson recommends the genuine Epson cartridges listed above. Click [How to] for instructions on ink cartridge installation.
If the cartridges are installed correctly and the contacts are OK, the problem may be related to the software protection of the original cartridges. The printer manufacturer blocks the use of third-party consumables such as compatible non-original cartridges, refillable cartridges, or CISS through software updates.
There is a solution to the problem. The Epson PX-M741F printer supports a chipless firmware version, which, once installed, allows it to print without displaying cartridge replacement notifications. How to make Epson PX-M741F “chipless”:
- Download and install the program.
- On the Control tab, find the Firmware versions with disabled ink cartridges (chipless) option. If you do not see this option, switch the printer to service mode before installing the firmware. To do this, go to the Firmware menu, click on the Change firmware version button and follow the program instructions.
- From the drop-down list of firmware versions with ink cartridges disabled, select your printer model and click on the Disable cartridges now button.
- Purchase the firmware code.
- Insert the code into the field of the window that appears and click Ok.
After the firmware installation is complete, the Epson PX-M741F printer will be able to continue printing, and any errors related to cartridge installation will be resolved.
